SMEY is rethinking what’s possible with biotechnology - using AI and a proprietary Neobank of 1,000 yeasts to unlock next-generation oils for food, cosmetics, and pharma. As a science-driven venture, SMEY operates at the intersection of deep tech and commercial scalability, bringing high-performance, sustainable bio-ingredients to market faster and smarter.

We were brought in to create a brand and digital presence that could articulate SMEY’s cutting-edge science while positioning it as a credible, future-ready business partner. The identity needed to balance complexity with clarity - appealing to investors, collaborators, and scientific talent alike. As a growing biotech company, it also had to be modular and scalable, able to support new use cases, audiences, and applications over time.

The result is a clear, unique, elevated platform that communicates SMEY’s ambition - to lead a more intelligent, sustainable era of biotechnology.

The visual style draws directly from the microscopic world of biotech - with 3D-rendered cells and molecular forms bringing depth and tactility to the brand. A calming palette of beiges grounds the identity in clarity and precision, while a bold “pumpkin” orange injects energy and disruptiveness, signalling SMEY’s role as an innovator in the field.
